Akitas And Huskies are both spitz type dogs. They may appear to be related at first glance but they're very different dog breeds. In this we'll discuss all about these two breeds of dogs.

Akitas have for centuries been the object of myth and legend and occupy a special place in Japanese culture. When a child is born the parents will usually receive an akita figurine signifying happiness and long life.
On the other hand Siberian huskies caught the eye of the public when they began winning sled races in the early 1900s. They became legendary after they ran 638 miles in only five and a half days for an emergency medicine delivery.
Appearance.
They both have distinct looks that set them apart. Akitas are generally larger than huskies they can be about 24 to 26 inches tall and weigh between 70 and 119 pounds. Whereas huskies stand approximately 20 to 23 and a half inches tall and weigh between 35 and 60 pounds.
Looks.
The akita has deep set brown eyes pointed ears and a curled bushy tail which is almost the size of their head. Their fur comes in various shades of white, black, and brown. Physically huskies have almond shaped eyes that are either blue brown or one of each and a medium sized head with erect ears and their coat comes in 13 different varieties.
General Health.
While comparing the health of these two breeds, the husky seems to be a bit healthier with a lifespan of 12 to 15 years. They're more prone to diseases like cataracts and hip dysplasia. Akitas have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years, they have immune diseases. Which affect their skin they can also have diseases like hip dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy.
Kid Friendliness.
Akitas are known for their protectiveness of their families. They're very affectionate with children when properly trained and socialized. Huskies are also very affectionate with children they make for great pets for families with children. However like every other dog they should be supervised when they're around young children.
Other Dogs And Pets.
Both breeds have a strong predatory nature, but they can live peacefully with other dogs as long as they're trained properly.
General Care.
Caring for both akitas and huskies are pretty similar keeping them well groomed will help in maintaining their overall health. Though both huskies and akitas need less grooming than other double-coated dogs. You need to brush them at least once a week and bathe them occasionally. You should also keep their nails trimmed and ears and their teeth cleaned to keep infections at bay.
Training.
Akitas are very curious as a puppy, so you should start training them from an early age. Make sure to train them with great care and kindness. Huskies on the other hand are independent thinkers; they tend to follow commands which they think are beneficial. So you need to have patience while training them.
Exercise.
Generally the akita is not a high energy breed, but they are still fairly active and energetic and needs daily exercise. On the other hand huskies are more active dogs who need more than exercise to stay healthy and happy.
Temperament.
Akitas are extremely loyal to their families they're always on alert very intelligent and of course courageous. Huskies on the other hand are very friendly and outgoing. They can be quite mischievous and active make sure to keep an eye on them.
